Yesterday, we reported that the wife of Thomas Pate, Micah, was missing. We regret to report today that police located her body last evening around 8:15. Thomas is in custody while authorities investigate the circumstances. Needless to say, this is devastating news to Micah’s family, the Rines, and to the Pate and Clovis families.
Thomas grew up at Campus. His mother and father, Tommy and Meg, and grandparents, John and Linda Clovis, are beloved members here. Many of us know Thomas personally and watched him grow up. In the wake of this tragedy, we simply cannot go on as usual with our regular Sunday plans and schedule. Our church needs to be together tomorrow.
So tomorrow, Sunday, May 3, we will combine our services. We will meet in the Forum at 10:15, after Sunday school. The worship team will be seated. The service will consist largely of congregational singing, scripture and prayer. We had already planned to have a church wide meal after the service, and we are going to go ahead with that plan. It will be healing to worship together and to eat together in a time of fellowship afterward. Please keep the Rine, Pate and Clovis families in your prayers.
