Help One Student To Succeed

Purpose

HOSTS (Help One Student To Succeed), is a national mentoring program designed to help at-risk elementary school students improve reading skills. Campus has been involved in HOSTS since 1999 when we began working with Meadowcreek Elementary School just across Indian Trail Road. In 2004, Campus received national recognition for its commitment to the educational welfare of children.

Hundreds of Campus members have served as volunteer mentors at Meadowcreek donating literally thousands of hours with children. In 2004, Meadowcreek students in the HOSTS program made 2.7 years worth of reading gains in just six months. Some HOSTS graduates even return to the program as mentors themselves.

The faculty and staff at Meadowcreek refer to Campus as their "across the street angels." Each fall, Campus collects school supplies for low income children. In May, Meadowcreek holds its fifth-grade graduation in our auditorium. Throughout the year, we help anyway we can when Meadowcreek families need us.

If you are looking for a way to be involved in the community, HOSTS is it. Call the church office or contact the Meadowcreek HOSTS lab directly at (678) 380-7206. Ask for Angie or Lisa. You can also view the Meadowcreek website at www.meadowcreekes.com.
